Juventus are in contact with Arsenal and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang about a deal this summer.
RAI says Juve chief Fabio Paratici has launched a fact-finding mission with the Gunners, while registering their interest with Aubameyang's management.
With Gonzalo Higuain expected to depart Juve at the end of this season, Paratici is in the market for a new striker and sees Aubameyang as a viable option.
Aubameyang has just over a year to run on his current deal and refusing to consider new contract talks with the Gunners.
Arsenal face having to sell on the cheap, with a fee as a low as £20m mooted - a situation which is attractive to Paratici and Juve.
For his part, Aubameyang would be open to a return to Italy, having spent his younger days alongside brother Willy at AC Milan.
