Juventus coach Max Allegri hailed the return of Andrea Barzagli after their 1-0 win over Genoa.

Carlos Tevez struck to earn Juve the 1-0 win. But Barzagli performed a decisive intervention late on.

Allegri said: "We've got an important and extraordinary defender back. With him we can play with three or four at the back, plus can afford to rest someone like Leo Bonucci who has played non-stop.

"We are still in three tournaments, so it's crucial to have different options and tactical variations at our disposal."

On Tevez he added: "Today he scored an extraordinary goal, suited to his remarkable season. He has great technique, I leave him free to move around a bit more and I think that's important for him.

"You can tell a champion by the way he moves and shakes off the marking, even without having to run that much."
