Jordan questions 'integrity and loyalty' as Lampard enters Chelsea talks

Former Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan has taken a swipe at Derby boss Frank Lampard over his imminent move to Chelsea.

Derby have granted Chelsea permission to speak to Lampard over the vacant manager's job at Stamford Bridge.

"I think he has learnt some of his trade on Mel's (Derby owner Mel Morris) dime, and I think that comes with a degree of responsibility," said Jordan on talkSPORT.

"Football is a very nuanced and peculiar world. Mel will know equally as well as I did.

"But I do think that there is an implicit understanding between an owner and a manager that is often broken by a manager's misplaced ambitions, at times in their career.

"Everyone can make decisions, it's really easy to make decisions. It's about making the right ones, and I sometimes look at this alternative universe that football operates in and think 'I hope you get what you deserve', sometimes, because guys like Mel and guys like me give people like Frank, and Steve Bruce, and others, opportunities to progress their careers - and they forget that very quick."

Jordan added: "I'm a bit of a lone voice in the wilderness at times. I just feel that there is something about integrity and loyalty, and building something with somebody, that has far more meaning than taking the first opportunity.

"We live in an alternate reality where these guys are getting paid the kind of money they're getting paid.

"Frank is nowhere near the finished article as a manager - nowhere near. He is learning his trade and is a long way away from being anywhere near the finished article."
