Glen Johnson is confident of establishing himself at Chelsea.

"This is my fifth year at Chelsea and while I would prefer things to have been different, because every player wants to play week in, week out, in reality it does not always happen like that," Johnson said after training with the squad at their base in California. "It has been tough but we will get there in the end. I feel better now coming back to Chelsea after a long season with Portsmouth."

Five players - Geremi, Paulo Ferreira, Michael Essien, Lassana Diarra and Boulahrouz - featured at right-back last season, none of them making the position his own.

Johnson said: "Nobody nailed down the position last year so everybody has a chance. The position seems wide open."
