Jimmy Hill immortalised by Coventry with bronze statue

Former Coventry manager and chairman Jimmy Hill will have a bronze statue unveiled at the Ricoh Arena on July 28. The event will take place with special guests including Hill himself, statue creator Nicolas Dimbleby and some of Hill's former players such as John Sillett and George Curtis.

The unveiling will take place during a family fun day at the home of the Sky Blues, where an interactive training session will take place on the pitch between 2pm and 4pm.

Joe Elliott, life president, said: "The day of the unveiling will be the culmination of a great deal of hard work and generosity from the supporters of this football club as well as the members of the statue committee who have worked tirelessly to see this idea come to fruition.

"Everyone connected with the football club should feel a sense of pride when this statue is finally unveiled. It is fitting that a tribute to Jimmy, who is a man of the people, has been brought about by the public."
