Japan are set to part ways with coach Akira Nishino after the country's World Cup exit in the Round of 16.
The Japanese were 2-0 up over Belgium in their knockout clash, but suffered a 3-2 defeat.
While the nation is proud of their performance, it does not appear the Japanese Football Association wants to continue with Nishino as coach.
"My contract ends at the end of this month," Nishino told reporters at Tokyo's Narita airport.
"And I have been working on the assumption that this job would last from the moment I was appointed to the end of the World Cup."
