Italy coach Luciano Spalletti is counting on Nicolo Zaniolo and Sandro Tonali eventually returning to the squad.
Aston Villa attacker Zaniolo and Newcastle United midfielder Tonali were released by Italy yesterday amid a betting investigation launched by local prosecutors.
Asked about the situation, Spalletti said today: "We remain a very strong team even without two champions.
"Zaniolo has shown us this week that if cleaned up from some vices on the pitch he is an extraordinary footballer, who always has the knockout blow in his feet.
"Tonali has that strength and that continuity.. I hope to see them again as soon as possible, to be able to train them again as soon as possible.
"But the others are just as strong, we have infinite team potential."
