IT'S OVER: €100M Coutinho clause expires between Barcelona and Liverpool

A unique 'premium clause' agreed between Barcelona and Liverpool over Philippe Coutinho's sale has now expired.

Between 2018 and 2020, it was settled between Barca and the Reds that any move from the Catalans for a Liverpool player would have to include an extra €100m premium on top of the fee agreed between the clubs.

The Times says the deal was agreed as part of Coutinho's sale to Barca.

So any interest for the likes of Sadio Mané, Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Gini Wijnaldum would've meant Barca agreeing a fee with Liverpool, then having to add a further €100m to the price.

However, the clause has now expired, so leaving Barca with the chance to snap up Wijnaldum in January for an affordable valuation.
