Iraola happy to leave Bournemouth transfer plans to others

Bournemouth's new head coach Andoni Iraola believes managers should not be signing players.

The Spaniard was introduced to reporters, having taken the place of sacked coach Gary O'Neil.

Despite the latter leading the Cherries to safety from relegation, the club's board opted to go with Iraola to build for the future.

Asked about transfers, Iraola told journalists: “For me, it's important they understand, and I'm sure talking to them (the board), they understand the way the team is going into play, the profiles we need, the things we need from the players, from each position.

“And I'm pretty sure they understand and they are trying to do their best.

“They've been working for a lot of months and they know the market much better than me. They know the players much better than me.

“I will give my opinion, I will tell them if I think one player can fit well in our system or not.

“But I don't think managers should be the ones signing the players."
