Inzaghi delighted taking Salernitana job: I'm happiest man in the world

Pippo Inzaghi is delighted taking the Salernitana job.

Inzaghi was appointed new Salernitana coach yesterday after the dismissal of Paulo Sousa and had his presentation today.

He said, "As has happened for 30 years, I scored 300 goals and they tell me I didn't know how to stop. What matters is that people will appreciate us for the attitude. If you can help us, we need affection and help.

"I already know what kind of crowd there is, I scored a double in this stadium in 1998. During the warm-up I couldn't even talk to my teammates, there were 3,000 people in Monza and this struck me.

"Let me make it clear that if you have ten internationals you cannot fight not to be relegated. We must give our best to deserve the passion of the people and the salary of the president. The fact that there is a twinning with Reggio makes me happy, I'm sure they will support us too."

He also said: "When I went to Brescia they called me crazy, when I went from Milan in Serie A to Venezia in Serie C they told me I was crazy. Now they ask me who made me do it since Salernitana are second to last.

"I'm the happiest person in the world. When I understand what I represent for people the sadness goes away, I want to convey what I am. As a coach I have won and lost, but I want to get up with strength. I never stop learning, I change my mind without becoming stuck in one just a concept.

"There are people who bring home the Champions League and then get sacked after a few months. It's up to me to do as little damage as possible, we coaches get in our heads and think we invented football but the players go on the pitch. I must enhance their potential, without giving excuses. With a club like this we cannot cling to any excuse."
