Inter Milan president Moratti convinced of Sneijder compromise

Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti insists there's still room for compromise over Wesley Sneijder's contract stand-off.

Moratti has claimed that that decision is entirely down to Coach Andrea Stramaccioni.

"As always, the decision to play or not is in the hands of the Coach," he told Gazzetta dello Sport. "I'd be the first to ask the Coach to play him.

"I have no interest in paying someone just to sit in the stands, while he could help us win games.

"It needs to be resolved quickly as it's creating tension within the team. But the Coach has felt that psychologically and physically he is not ready.

"Stramaccioni has always been clear with Sneijder."

He also commented on his admiration for the playmaker, as well as conceding that they tried everything to make him stay at San Siro.

"It is normal for us to test the waters like this," he said. "Having a contract, of course, he has the right to say no.

"We would then have to make a counterproposal, but the [original] offer seemed like a fair one.

"His statement certainly denotes that he is further away from the team than I thought."
