Inter Milan GM Marotta discusses Saudi spending; Dimarco contract talks

Inter Milan GM Beppe Marotta admits Serie A have been rocked by the mega spending of the Saudi Pro League.

Marotta concedes Serie A need to assess the threat of the SPL.

He said, "We still have to evaluate the effect of this new scenario carefully, for now we have lost competitiveness because the Arabs have taken players who were not in early retirement.

"The big risk is that we will become impoverished, even on an economic level due to the sale of our rights tv. Apparently there was a financial benefit by selling, because we brought home money, but we need to put limits on transfers to protect the technical assets."

Marotta was also asked about Fede Dimarco's new contract talks.

"I am very happy for him because he represents a great sense of belonging. We are proud of this. From a value point of view he is constantly growing and I believe he can still improve.

"We will see each other with our sporting director (Piero) Ausilio and I would like to talk about an extension rather than of renewal because it means that values such as belonging are reached. Maximum respect for Federico."
