Inter Milan are eyeing Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen.

Vertonghen comes off contract in June and can discuss pre-contract terms with foreign teams from January 1.

Sky Italia's Gianluca di Marzio reports Inter could look to tie up a deal for the summer, or even sign him for a reduced fee if he signs a pre-contract deal.

It would be a similar strategy to their signing of Stefan de Vrij, who signed last summer after his Lazio deal expired.

The Nerazzurri are looking for defensive reinforcements, but must be careful to stay within Financial Fair Play parameters before June 30.
