Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez has rejected criticism from pundit Billy Costacurta.

The former AC Milan defender has questioned Lautaro's big match mentality.

“What Costacurta said is not true. Scoring a goal in the Champions League semi-final against Milan, one of the most important games in the history of both clubs… he didn't count that," the striker told TyC Sports.

“I would invite him to go back and watch that goal again. Not just that, but many other big matches I played in."

Lautaro added: “I am experiencing a wonderful moment at Inter. The truth is, I did not imagine my career to be like this, especially considering the history of Argentinean players at Inter. Instead, I got this marvellous opportunity and have been at Inter for six years. It is very important for me to make history with this club and beat records.

“I keep working day after day and hope to continue this journey to give the fans joy, as from the first moment they gave me an incredible welcome. I try to give my all on the pitch, that is my job."
