Manchester United midfielder Ethan Hamilton has ended his loan spell with Southend United.

The two clubs have activated the recall clause in the agreement by mutual consent, ending the midfielder's temporary stint with the League One side.

The 21-year-old made 18 appearances in all competitions for the Shrimpers, after joining them on 16 August.

Hamilton impressed during another loan spell in League One last season, when he played 14 games for Rochdale.

With Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay both sidelined, United are short of numbers in midfield.
