Former St Etienne striker Ilan expected more in defeat to Europa League opponents Manchester United.

Ilan attended both games and was hoping for more from ASSE.

"I was not surprised, I attended both games, I was invited to Manchester and Saint-Etienne and somewhere I expected to see Saint-Etienne more aggressive in the second leg," he stated.

"Knowing that we did not really have much to hope for, I thought I saw the players more relaxed, with this desire to win, I was a little disappointed in this, because it was necessary to believe again, to score a goal quickly.

"Unfortunately this did not happen as planned, it was a little shame for the fans even if we expected a difficult game."
