I would love to get in touch with my Man Utd star son Memphis - Dennis Depay

Dennis Depay has revealed that he misses his son Memphis and wants to get back in touch.

The Manchester United winger opts to wear 'Memphis' on the back of his shirt as he would rather not play with the surname of his father who he claims abandoned him as a four-year old in Holland.

But 50-year-old Dennis told The Sun that he never fled from his family and eagerly wants to reconnect with the 21-year-old who landed a £25million transfer from PSV Eindhoven to Old Trafford in the summer.

"Saying that I didn't see him after he was four is just not right. It is unbelievable, it is not nice," said Dennis.

"He is my son and I love him. I am the man who gave him his first ball.

"He was not abandoned by me. That is not true. I was always there for him.

"I saw him on YouTube talking about his dad, saying he didn't want to put my name on his back. It made me feel terrible.

"I would love to be back in touch with him. I miss him so much."
