Hunter Stadium acquires new naming sponsor

Australian property group McDonald Jones Homes has signed a naming rights agreement with Venues NSW for the Newcastle-based Hunter Stadium, reports, www.sportspromedia.com/.

The ground, home to A-League side Newcastle Jets and National Rugby League (NRL) outfit Newcastle Knights, will henceforth be known as the McDonald Jones Stadium.

No financial details have been released.

"Football and the stadium has been struggling for a few years," said McDonald Jones Homes founder Bill McDonald.

"We like to help battlers and I know when we've been battling people the Hunter stadium has supported us."

Venues NSW previously held the naming rights to the stadium, and company chairman John Quayle added: "This sponsorship is a sign of the positive future this sporting precinct has for Newcastle.

"The stadium brings people together and this deal is great for us."
