Hull City are eyeing Newcastle United striker Shola Ameobi.
The Evening Chronicle says Ameobi has not been offered a new deal, and the Championship had appeared to be his next likely destination.
However, Hull boss Steve Bruce wants the 32-year-old to bolster his squad for next season when the Tigers cope with the challenge a Europa League campaign.
Bruce has always been a fan of the Nigerian international and was interested in him last summer.
He sees Ameobi as the ideal man to lead the Hull frontline in Europe given his many experiences at this level.
