Hull City boss Steve Bruce explained hooking Sone Aluko during their draw with Aston Villa.

He admitted the midfielder had been below his best on the day.

Bruce said: "It wasn't Sone's day either. Now he's been nothing short of sensational since he's been here but today it wasn't his day. It happens in football there were a few of them and they weren't getting to the level we know they can play.

"But we'll take the draw and we'll move on."
