Hull City boss Steve Bruce is delighted with their deal for former Tottenham midfielder Tom Huddlestone.

His outstanding performance at Newcastle at the weekend is not the first of his five so far, and Bruce knows it won't be the last.

Bruce said: "I just said to him we need somebody who can play the way you play. There comes a time in your career when you've got to be on that team-sheet playing week in, week out. Thankfully, he chose us ahead of Sunderland.

"He was just what we needed. And then I did a deal with Daniel Levy that I could only buy Tom if I could throw Jake Livermore into the equation.

"It was a great deal for us. He's a class act who can only get better by playing regularly.

"He's enjoying his football and we're playing through him, long may it continue."
