Hughes says Stoke fans will give Gerrard rousing welcome

Stoke City boss Mark Hughes is backing home fans to give Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard a rousing welcome today.

The match will mark Gerrard's final Premier League game before he leaves for LA Galaxy.

Hughes said: "I'm sure the crowd at the Britannia Stadium will give Steven the welcome that his career deserves. It is a huge thing for British football he's been a fantastic servant to his club and to the game at the top level.

"It is right that it should be recognised but we will be saying to everyone that we haven't done badly either this season. It is about us and we want to celebrate the season we have had.

"We can all look back upon the season with a lot of pride, especially if we are able to end it with another victory this weekend.

"The lads have had a couple of days off this week but they are back in now and their attentions are firmly focused on Liverpool."
