Former Tottenham manager Glenn Hoddle says only trophies can secure Heung-min Son legendary status at the club.
The South Korea international passed 100 goals for Tottenham just weeks ago and has established as a key part of manager Jose Mourinho's plans to bring silverware to the club.
And Hoddle says, for all the personal success and accolades Son is enjoying right now, he needs to help Spurs win trophies to be regarded as a club legend. The former England star won two FA Cups and the UEFA Cup alongside the likes of Ossie Ardiles and Ricky Villa during his time at Tottenham.
Hoddle said on his podcast, ' The Glenn Hoddle Footy Show': "Well, if he (Son) stays there and trophies are won... but I think it's coming back to Harry (Kane) and this group of players who have played for Tottenham over the years and they're getting better and better. Hopefully they can win some silverware.
"It's not the (winning trophies) be all and end all, but you have to go back as a winner. That's the next thing - silverware."
Asked if he felt Son could've found a way into the great FA Cup and UEFA Cup winning teams he played in, Hoddle is convinced the South Korean would have found a place.
He continued: "These players in different eras would've got into any of these teams and vice-versa. Top players in the '80's and '70's would've performed well in this era.
"Son is a top, top player.
"Yeah! If you look at it, the way Harry Kane plays, Son is actually more of a centre-forward at the moment, than a wide man. He plays right on the shoulder - more than Harry. And it's suiting him really well. He's playing a role which is helping the team, with Harry now dropping into those (deeper) spaces."
So far this season, Son has played 18 times in the Premier League, scoring 12 goals. Overall, the South Korean has managed 16 goals in 27 games.
