Hellas Verona are attempting to take Sunderland goalkeeper Vito Mannone back to Italy.

Mannone, formerly of Arsenal, is ready to leave Sunderland in January after being demoted to the bench for Costel Pantilimon.

TMW says Hellas Verona are in contact about a deal next month.

However, the Serie A outfit face a battle to convince Mannone about returning home. The keeper would prefer to stay in England.

Bournemouth and ChampionshipReading are also showing interest.
