Former Arsenal forward John Hartson has hailed his former club's pursuit of Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy.
Hartson claims that the 29-year-old will prove to be a very good signing for the Gunners even if his style does not necessarily fit into Arsene Wenger's system.
The North London club have reportedly triggered the £20million release clause in Vardy's contract and are waiting to hear back from the player who has travelled with the England squad to France for Euro2016.
Hartson told talkSPORT: "He scored 20-odd Premier League goals last season and Arsenal are desperate for a poacher in the box, a goalscorer.
"Systems don't win you games, players win you games, and you can't have enough good players.
"Vardy is a good player. He is a goalscorer, he is sharp and he would be fantastic for the likes of [Alexis] Sanchez and [Mesut] Ozil.
"He is a willing runner, he plays on defenders' shoulders, he doesn't want to come short, he always wants to go in behind... he is a nightmare to play against. He would be a fantastic signing."
