Joe Hart admits it was sad to see James Milner leave Manchester City.

The 29-year old midfielder will join Liverpool on July 1 after his contract at the Etihad Stadium expires and soon-to-be former teammate Hart suggests his absence will be felt by the club.

"On a personal note, I am very sad to see James go as he is a personal friend," said goalkeeper Hart.

"I have enjoyed every moment with him but football is football. We have been in the game a long time and it is business, his decision and the club's decision.

"I wish him all the best as he is a fantastic player but that is not the end of me and him. We have our personal relationship off the pitch."

Milner joined City from Aston Villa in 2010 and made over 200 appearances for the club with whom he won two Premier League titles, the FA Cup and the League Cup.
