Hareide wants ex-Everton midfielder Sigurdsson part of Iceland Euros qualifying team: Love to have him back

Iceland coach Age Hareide admits he wants former Everton midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson part of his Euros qualifying squad.

Sigurdsson, now a free agent, is weighing up whether to return to football after being acquitted in a case of sexual assault in England. Iceland club FH have offered to help Sigurdsson with his playing return.

'I have personally told him that I am very interested in getting him back in the national team. I would love to have him back, and I also think it will be good for him and the team," Hareide told mbl.is. ix

In April, Hareide said he was happy on Sigurdsson's behalf that the matter could finally be put to rest.

"It is very positive for him that the case is over. It has taken a lot from him. It must have been two years of hell for him. I've met him and he's a great guy and a great player."
