Hairline fracture expected to sideline Arsenal midfielder Wilshere for 6-8 weeks

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere faces six to eight weeks on the sidelines after being diagnosed with a hairline fracture.

The injury is said to be in his left fibula and rules him out, not only for Arsenal's early season matches, but for England's two Euro2016 qualifiers in September.

23-year-old Wilshere was absent for nearly six months of last season and having missed his side's 1-0 Community Shield victory over Chelsea, hoped to return for the Gunners within days.

Arsenal and England fans alike will anxiously await the result of a scan that will reveal whether the injury appears much worse and needs surgery, which will mean a longer term absence.
