Dutch great Ruud Gullit believes Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was furious after defeat at Atletico Madrid.

The Reds lost 1-0 in the first-leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie.

"He is certainly irritated," Gullit said. "He thinks it is terrible that his team has lost. It really seems that Klopp is out for revenge.

"Klopp thinks he has a better team than Diego Simeone.

"However, he has lost to a team that did something that is not his football. He wants revenge, so Klopp says. He does not find it necessary to whip up the audience like Simeone does. The annoyance is great at Klopp, he really can't handle this."

Gullit also warned Klopp for the second-leg.

"They are going to face the same kind of competition. They will have to play better, with more pace and faster play."
