Palermo coach Francesco Guidolin was full of praise for veteran goalkeeper Alberto Fontana after their 1-0 victory over Livorno.
"We played well and could have had a crisis of confidence when the referee pointed to the spot, but Fontana gave us a great hand," said Rosanero tactician Guidolin, who saw Fabrizio Miccoli hit the winner.
"The team fought hard, always played in the opposition's half and deserved the victory. We took our chances and got the three points. My lads had the patience to believe in their potential."
Livorno boss Camolese also gave the credit for the result to veteran shot-stopper Fontana.
"We had a good performance and put Palermo under pressure in the first half, but found a fantastic Fontana in our path. After the break tiredness got the better of us, as with clearer heads we could have been more effective on the counter."
Camolese tried to reassure Tavano following the penalty miss, which contributed to their second consecutive defeat.
"It went badly, but these things can happen and I told Tavano not to get too upset, as it was just an incident."
