Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola has jumped to the defence of Mario Gotze.
Gotze has been hammered by fans for being snapped lunching with Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
Franz Beckenbauer, Bayern's honourary president, has called for the midfielder's sale over his form this season.
But with Liverpool and Manchester City watching on, Guardiola says: "Mario is the best pro I ever met. He has his own style and has much quality.
"We need him because of his characteristics, whether he runs a lot or not. I do not understand problems of Götze's snack with Ter Stegen. They are friends, why would they not talk after the game?
"It's okay if Mario felt the need to apologize, but I do not think there was any problem.
"Mario is an emotional guy. His life is all about football. He has done a fantastic job this season and I see no reason to complain about his efforts. He is a young player with great potential. I'm happy to be his coach."
