Gold Coast United's Porter positive goals will come

Gold Coast United striker Joel Porter is confident that the goals will eventually come for him.

The 31-year old former Hartlepool United man was very creative for his side in their 3-3 draw with Wellington Phoenix on Friday night but did miss a gilt-edged chance, similar to his miss against the Brisbane Roar in round 1.

But Porter is positive that he will hit the back of the net with regularity once he puts his first goal for the season away.

"I know I can score goals and when the first one goes in the others will follow," he told goldcoast.com.au.

"It's disappointing that I've missed a couple of good chances in the first two games. But the good thing is I'm getting into some good positions.

"It's is a bit of a confidence thing. Last year I didn't get to play up front much and when you haven't been in front of goal for while there's the tendency to maybe be a little bit more hesitant than usual.

"But I'm not concerned and I know the goals will come. I've scored everywhere I've been in my career, and it's not a big concern.

"I got five last season from midfield. I'll just need to bide my time and wait for the first one to go in."
