Girona defender Santiago Bueno has sung the praises of fellow Uruguayan Ronald Araujo ahead of the derby against Barcelona.

Bueno has impressed for Girona this season and is a former Barca youth teamer.

On his compatriot, Bueno said: "He is one of the three best centre-backs in the world.

“He has impressive physical potential. I am very happy for him, he has worked hard since the first day he arrived here.

"This is a very important game for us. We have never beaten Barça and doing so would be a blow on the table."

He added: “I am very comfortable here. My growth is parallel to that of the club and I think I have made a great decision by extending the contract. It is a great opportunity for me. If an offer arrives and both parties are interested, we will make a decision, but we will do it from the peace of mind of having a contract until 2026."
