Gillingham snap up West Ham keeper Sam Baxter

Gillingham have snapped up West Ham United goalkeeper Sam Baxter.

The 19 year-old Essex-born shot-stopper had been with the Hammers since the age of 15, playing regularly for the club's Under-18 and Under-21 teams.

This season he impressed with a successful loan spell at non-league Witham Town but was released by the Hammers last week to enable him to find another club.

He joins the Gills on non-contract terms and has received clearance to feature in the Gills Sky Bet League 1 match at Stevenage on tonight.
