Fulham boss Silva hails his 'incredible' players after Cup win at Everton

Fulham boss Marco Silva was proud of his players after their Carabao Cup shootout win at Everton.

The Cottagers went ahead via a Michael Keane own goal before Beto scored Everton's equaliser nine minutes before time to send the quarterfinal into a shootout.

Tosin Adarabioyo struck the winning penalty on the night after Everton's Idrissa Gueye hit the post.

Silva said: "It is incredible what the players have been doing, with our support and management.

"We wanted to make history in this football club, it is a serious approach in this competition and not just tonight.

"We did change four or five players from the last game, tonight we knew it was going to be very tough as Everton are in a good moment.

"I know how difficult it is when you come here even when we scored the first goal they [Everton fans] do not stop supporting their team.

"A lot of pressure, we knew before the match we was going to face high pressure all the time. In the first half we did better than we did in the second half.

"Second half Everton created more problems for us and we did not have not have possession to calm the game down.

"When we conceded and it went 1-1 I made some tactical changes but after the changes I think we did control the game much better.

"The penalty shootout, the team kept their composure and showed maturity."
