Fulham boss Jol confesses team building frustrations

Fulham boss Martin Jol has detailed how difficult it is to build a squad in their situation.

Jol admits his squad is forever in transition because of circumstances.

"I can have six midfield players in June and they are gone by September," he said.

"Last year I thought there were only one or two pieces left of the puzzle. And then Mousa Dembele left, then Clint Dempsey. Danny Murphy was the same.

"You have to be creative and that is good in the short term but in the longer term it is not what you want. I know a lot of players who could do well but structurally for the long term it is not ideal. I would love to decrease the amount of loan players in the future.

"But on the other hand it's not a Mickey Mouse league and we have to survive and maintain where we are. Of course I would like to lower the average age of the group and I think we did that, if you look at the bench.

"The thing is if you have £25m to spend on a 23-year-old, that is what we would like to do."
