France coach Didier Deschamps has explained his decision to recall Barcelona attacker Ousmane Dembele.

Dembele has won a return to the squad on the back of a run of superb form with Barca.

Deschamps explained, "He is a player who showed his qualities very early on. He's still young. If we haven't seen him for a while, it is because he was not spared from the injuries. He now manages to continue. He could score more and gain efficiency. He is at a very high level. For him to become more efficient, that would be a good thing for him and for us.

"By gaining in maturity, we perhaps make better choices even if the attackers always have periods when they are less effective than others."

Deschamps continued: “Ousmane has always had and has this ability to create differences, shifts. The zone of truth is always the most difficult, but the important thing is his ability to create differences, to score and to make goals. He has his flashes. That he can gradually bring more consistency from the start to the end of a match. He's like that. Not that he can't progress, but I prefer to look at the qualities.

"They all have small flaws that can be corrected. We are still talking about a player who has been at the top from a very young age."
