Joey Barton has given his nod of approval following Newcastle United's appointment of Steve McClaren.
The 54-year old signed a three-year deal, which could be extended to eight, with the Magpies on Wednesday and ex-Toon midfielder Barton feels it is a good piece of business from the north east club.
Very shrewd appointment by Newcastle. Great coach Steve. He has all the qualities needed to succeed there. How do Toon fans feel about it?

32-year old Barton, who is on the lookout for a new club following his release from QPR, has never played under McClaren but is of the belief that he will be a good fit at St James' Park.
