Recently-departed Manchester United U23 coach Warren Joyce admits that the Wigan Athletic job was too good an opportunity to pass on.
Joyce spent eight years in the United coaching staff before accepting the job at the Championship club this week.
The 51-year-old will replace Gary Caldwell, who was sacked last week, with the Latics currently placed second-from-bottom in the league table.
He told Sky Sports: "I think it is a really good opportunity for myself.
"Obviously I have been speaking to the owners and the aims match mine. My gut feeling was they were the type of people I would want to work for and do well for, and leave a legacy that you have left your mark on Wigan.
"The aim is to win every single game we are involved in. Then, you have got the by-product of improving every player at the football club, regardless of what age they are, and also help the community and young players in and around."
