Former Russia star Dmitry Sennikov says Nottingham Forest need to get serious if they want to sign Wilmar Barrios.
Forest have offered €4m to Zenit St Petersburg for the Colombia midfielder.
However, Zenit are demanding at least €15m to sell Barrios, who came close to joining Newcastle two years ago.
Sennikov told RB Sport: "Four million euros for Barrios is not enough. There is no point in considering such a proposal. If they give 15 million euros, then why not let Barrios go, but 4 million euros is simply ridiculous. He is a high class football player.
"He is a good player, but the level of Zenit has already fallen, because there is no Wendel and Malcolm. Wendel has already returned, and he is a key link. If he gets in shape now, it doesn't matter who will play in other positions. Wendel will become the player who will lead Zenit to the championship."
