Forest boss Cooper explains going with Vlachodimos over Turner for Villa win

Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper has explained his decision to drop Matt Turner in goal.

The American was not in the starting lineup as Forest beat Aston Villa 2-0 in the Premier League on Sunday.

Cooper's side managed all three points with youngster Odysseas Vlachodimos getting a chance in goal.

"It felt like the right time. We have been pleased with Matt (Turner) and we have got a strong goalkeeping department and then we want guys fighting for position and it's just a change that we feel is the right one to make," Cooper stated before the game.

"So yeah, I made the call pretty early in the week, I spoke to Matt about it and he understood.

“There's also some stuff that we want to work with him. So we're committed to that and now we support Odysseas (Vlachodimos) in his first game."
