Fernandes upset with Man Utd hook for Spurs thrashing

Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes was stunned by his halftime hook for their 6-1 thrashing by Tottenham.

Fernandes was among the most vocal stars in the United camp at half-time as they were 4-1 behind with just 10 men after Anthony Martial received a straight red for lashing out at Erik Lamela.

But the Athletic reports Fernandes' passion at half-time did little to persuade manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to keep him on the pitch for the second half - and he ended up being replaced by Donny van de Beek, a decision which left the midfielder deeply upset.

The report also claims that Solskjaer's decision was largely a tactical one, feeling he needed fresh legs in midfield to try and stop Spurs running riot.

Furthermore with three matches on the horizon for Portugal, Solskjaer reportedly decided to withdraw Fernandes from the action as he was wary his creative star may pick up an injury along the way for being overworked.
