Exclusive: Ex-Tottenham keeper Friedel claims Conte will walk if Levy doesn't change transfer policy

Brad Friedel can see Antonio Conte leaving Tottenham Hotspur if Daniel Levy doesn't change his leadership policy.

Wednesday's 1-0 loss to Burnley saw Spurs fell behind in the race for the top-four.

Conte was visibly rattled after the final whistle, even going so far as hinting he could walk away from the job.

He told reporters: "I came in to try to improve the situation in Tottenham but maybe in this moment, I don't know, I'm not so good to improve the situation.

"I'm too honest to close my eyes and say, 'OK on Saturday we're going to play another game'.

"It's right at the moment to see what the situation is and to make an assessment."

The Italian only took over from Nuno Espirito Santo in November, but cracks have already appeared in his relationship with Spurs chief Levy.

After shipping out four players and signing only two in January, Conte took a sly dig at the club's transfer business.

And Friedel, who played for Spurs between 2011 and 2015, believes Conte could walk away if he can't see eye-to-eye with Levy.

Friedel told TribalFootball.com, on behalf of bet365: "With how good he is and how much experience he has, then I'm sure if he's not able to get his players in then I'm sure he'd look to leave the club.

"I know Daniel Levy's not going to change the wage structure and transfer policy, so hopefully those two can work it out to get the players in."

Spurs have won only one Premier League match in their last five, with three points coming against Manchester City at the Etihad.

Friedel believes Conte is the perfect man to turn Tottenham around, but adds that the 52-year-old needs time to revitalize his squad.
