Ex-Watford keeper Foster talks up Leeds target Gracia

Former Watford goalkeeper Ben Foster has given insight into manager Javi Gracia.

The Spaniard appears to be closing in on the Leeds United job this week.

Leeds Live and other sources say he is a serious candidate for the job at the Whites.

Foster, who played under Gracia, heaped praise on the manager back in 2018.

"The manager here is a good guy, a really good guy," Foster said back in 2018.

"The lads have bought into his ideas and he puts it across really well. He's calm, not a ranter and raver, and the players appreciate that.

"He is very big on pressing and pushing higher up the pitch, and that suits us because we've got the players to do it. But the main thing is work-rate: There's a lot of high-intensity running, closing down and closing the space. We're quite aggressive as well.

"We're blessed with the type of players who can play that way, and not every team can do it. Managers might go into other clubs and want to play a certain way, but if they haven't got the jigsaw pieces to make the puzzle, it isn't going to work."
