Ex-Man City defender Mendy makes Lorient debut

Former Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy made his debut for Lorient in their 2-2 with AS Monaco on Sunday.

Mendy made a second-half substitute's appearance to mark his first competitive game in over two years.

Mendy's last game was for Manchester City in August 2021, shortly before he was charged with rape. The France international was cleared by British court of six counts of rape and one of sexual assault in January. He was also cleared in July in a separate trial.

Mendy signed a two-year deal with Lorient over the summer.

The defender entered the match with Lorient 2-1 down and helped the team earn a point on debut.
