Former Liverpool captain Mark Wright says Steven Gerrard is well equipped to lead England in the World Cup.
The Reds skipper will captain his nation in tonight's World Cup opener against the USA.
Wright told liverpoolfc.tv: "In Gerrard they have got a very good leader with a strong personality. He's a good captain and a natural leader.
"I don't think Steven by his own admission has had a good season but I think he will be back to his best in the World Cup. It will be interesting though where Capello plays him. If he plays off Rooney that could really work."
