The former Fulham and Tottenham Hotspur star endured a huge health scare last month after he was diagnosed with an irregular heart and as a result of the problem, the attacker has not featured in a competitive fixture since August 22.
As a huge boost, it can now be revealed that USA international Dempsey has returned to full training but has not been medically cleared to play competitive football as of yet.
Sounders' General Manager Garth Lagerwey said: "Dempsey has been cleared to return to training... but he's not been medically cleared to play.
"When Clint feels better and the doctors consider it safe, then we will consider his return to play.
"You can't just say, 'Clint's important to us', you have to mean it and that means Clint's health comes first."
