Ex-Derby, Hamburg midfielder Feilhaber stars as SKC reach MLS Cup

Benny Feilhaber was one of the stars of the show as Sporting Kansas City completed a dramatic comeback to reach the 2013 MLS Cup final on the weekend.

The former Derby County, Hamburg and Aarhus midfielder, who joined from New England Revolution in the offseason, was sublime for SKC as they scored a goal either side of the break to cancel out Boniek Garcia's early opener for the Dynamo.

Feilhaber, who provided the match-winning assist for Dom Dwyer's winning goal, admitted his delight at contributing so heavily to Sporting's success.

"It's satisfying to play with these guys," he told reporters after the match.

"(Head coach) Peter (Vermes) put a lot of faith in me, bringing me in here, and it's about paying that faith back and really combining with these guys and playing with this team."

Vermes added of Feilhaber: "I told him after the game, I said to him that that was why we brought him here.

"His ability to open up a defense is exactly what we were looking for."
