Ex-Brighton midfielder Propper ends retirement to turn out for Vitesse

Former Brighton midfielder Davy Propper is considering a sensational playing return.

Propper quit football almost a year ago while with PSV Eindhoven, having also become disillusioned with the game while with the Seagulls.

However, Propper turned out for Vitesse Arnhem in a friendly defeat to PEC Zwolle yesterday.

It was the 31 year-old's first appearance for Vitesse in seven and a half years.

Propper shocked Dutch football in early January 2022 when announcing the end of his player career. The seventeen-time Holland international stated he had 'slowly lost the fun in football'.

He joined his old club Vitesse at the end of November, where Phillip Cocu had taken over from Thomas Letsch. Propper was part of a training camp in Portugal and made his first unofficial minutes as a substitute on Saturday. He played the entire second half.
