Released Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper Jason Brown has questioned his old club's European ambitions.
The Wales international comes off contract at Rovers this month.
He told talkSPORT: "It's difficult to say. Three years with the likes of Manchester City throwing around the money they have done.
"There are going to be a lot of people writing them off but you can't because of the ability they have got in the squad and the manager that they have got.
"It's going to be a difficult ask. Steve Kean is a fantastic coach, he's a fantastic guy. He was great with myself there.
"And being an ex-Blackburn player I'd love to see that. It's going to be a hard task and if they get the backing from the owners, which they have done so far, who knows - football is crazy. Look at the Premier League last year. It was a crazy league."
